CrossRef metadata

Hello to all,

I have been using Referencer for some time, and it's a great program to
handle a huge number of pdf's.

Now that the crossref.org site asks for user registration Referencer cannot
get the metadata of papers. Unfortunately adding the username and password
of an openURL account in the Edit-->Preferences-->Metadata Lookup URL using
pid=username:password or req_dat=username:password does not work.

Is there a known workaround for this, or an alternative site as we wait for
the next release of Referencer?

Short answer: not that I know of. I've added a note to the referencer
homepage to warn people that crossref isn't working any more. I will
look into alternatives in due course. arXiv still works, for the lucky
physicists in the audience.
