Hi guys, nice application but looks like there are some problems with
the alpha version of Ubuntu (7.10).
I've installed referencer from the standard repository an, when I
launch it from command line I get:

$ referencer

***MEMORY-WARNING***: [16998]: GSlice: g_thread_init() must be called
before all other GLib functions; memory corruption due to late
invocation of g_thread_init() has been detected; this program is
likely to crash, leak or unexpectedly abort soon...
referencer: symbol lookup error: referencer: undefined symbol:
_ZN12GlobalParamsC1EPc

Hope this can help,
Denis

Hi guys, nice application but looks like there are some problems with

I've installed referencer from the standard repository an, when I
I've got in touch with an ubuntu person to see if they have any ideas
what's going on here, will post when more information is forthcoming.

Cheers,

I've had a helpful response. It turns out that there was a problem
that's been fixed in more recent version of glib, but referencer wasn't
getting rebuilt against the fixed glib because it was breaking due to
changes in poppler. That's happening because the ubuntu package is the
old 1.0.2 version which abused poppler a bit, which was fixed in 1.0.3.

So this gets fixed when the ubuntu package syncs with the latest
referencer release.

Cheers,
John

I've requested a sync now, did you check whether Debian's 1.0.4-1
package builds fine for gutsy now (I don't have a gutsy chroot around
currently).

1.0.4 got included into gutsy now and built fine for all relevant
architectures - it should be available to Ubuntu users now or very soon.

Looks like Gutsy has a problem with some of its pdf-processing
libraries right now.

See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/texlive-bin/+bug/121327
for a description of the bug and a few workarounds. Hopefully one of
them works out for you.
